I joined Usborne in the Summer of 2005 while on extended maternity leave with my first son. I now run a whole division within Usborne as a Divisional Executive - Usborne's highest organiser status... Suffice to say I no longer choose to be employed!
My Background
Before becoming a mum I worked for several large marketing agencies and have been very career driven since leaving University with an engineering degree in the late 1990's. Being a bookworm I signed up to Usborne simply to get lots of cheap top quality children's books and maybe a bit of pocket money from selling to friends and family.
My Usborne Experience
I soon realised that there was a real business
opportunity for a full time income and I really
didn't want to go back to the corporate world after
experiencing mummy-hood. So, I began to work at
building my Usborne Business, working part time in
the process. Today I have replaced my previous
income and my business has grown (as has my family
with the addition of a second son in 2008) and it
will continue to grow around my family needs.
I am more likely to be found working the 5-9 rather than the 9-5! Or, I fit my work into school hours, saving complicated and costly wrap around child care arrangements.
My Usborne Day
While you will find me at the school gates most days. There isn't a typical day ; you may find me selling at a toddler group, having coffee and a catch up with one of my team while our littl'uns play, I might have caught up with my accounts and invoicing while my youngest takes a mid morning nap. Or, I may have been off for a quick lunch in Paris or on the Orient Express, courtesy of the latest Usborne Incentive or perhaps a week long cruise from Miami to Mexico?
